We spend a lot of time thinking about our physical health—eating better, moving more, getting enough sleep. But when life gets busy (and let’s be honest, it usually is), our mental health often gets pushed to the back burner.
I often wonder why it takes burnout, breakdowns, or a health scare to remind us to care for our minds. Mental health isn’t something we only think about when things go wrong—it’s something we all have, every day, and it needs regular attention just like our bodies do. Feeling off, overwhelmed, or just not like yourself happens to everyone. That’s not weakness—it’s being human.
Every May, our team at Care to Change joins others across the country in recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month—a chance to spark honest conversations, challenge old stigmas, and encourage a culture where taking care of our mental health is normal, not an afterthought.
Mental health shows up in our lives in all kinds of ways.
Sometimes it’s stress we just can’t shake.
Sometimes we’re trying to get back into balance.
And sometimes we’re the ones holding space for someone else who’s struggling.
No matter what you’re facing—or how “together” you may seem on the outside—your mental health matters. Every single day.
In this issue, you’ll find simple, practical steps to support your mental health, tools to help when things feel off, and ways to better understand and support those around you. Let’s use this month as a reminder: healing, connection, and growth all start with care—and it starts with us.
