With a compassionate heart and a deep sense of calling, Walter Sanders works primarily with children navigating behavioral issues, anger, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and the impacts of severe trauma. He brings a steady, encouraging presence to the counseling room, helping young clients find hope, build resilience, and begin healing.

Walter earned his degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and has completed specialty training to better serve children facing complex emotional and behavioral challenges. His journey into counseling is rooted in a heart to serve youth at a therapeutic level—believing firmly that this work is both his calling and purpose. “I find joy in helping children grow and overcome life issues,” he says. “This is more than a job for me—it’s a mission.”

When asked why he chose Care to Change, Walter describes it as “an answered prayer.” He was drawn to the ministry’s culture, values, and commitment to therapeutic excellence. “The sense of community here is incredible, and the way Care to Change pours into its staff is something truly special,” he shares. “Care to Change is a beacon of hope, and I’m excited to join a team doing the Lord’s work.”

Outside the counseling office, Walter enjoys playing piano and acoustic guitar, and loves to sing. He treasures time spent with family and friends and is the proud brother of two sisters and one brother. Walter attends Cross Community Church, and above all, loves Jesus—because Jesus first loved him.
