For more than two decades, Emily has coached competitive cheerleading, a role that’s just as much about guiding young women through their most challenging years of personal development as it is about performance and athleticism. Her approach to therapy has been shaped by these successful interactions, helping her athletes simultaneously become better individuals and more effective members of a team.

Emily joined Care to Change for a number of compelling reasons, particularly the shared commitment to the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the healing process, as well as our collaborative approach through which our professionals support each other’s work. Specializing in assisting teens, young adults, and anyone striving for personal growth, Emily’s therapeutic toolkit draws from approaches such as Brainspotting, person-centered therapy, and internal family systems therapy. She crafts an individual, trauma-informed approach for each client, rooted in empathy and understanding.

She is currently sharpening her professional skills by pursuing a master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Capella University. Emily experiences the transformative power of worship, prayer, and deep discussions through her involvement in the Crossroads Great Banquet community, where she immerses herself in the profound experience of God’s love and grace.

Emily grew up in a large blended family that continues to be at the center of her life. Her nephews and nieces describe her as their “fun” aunt, and they’re the recipients of much of her free time. She cherishes life’s moments of peace and reflection, whether that involves spending time with family, enjoying outdoor activities, or losing herself in the pages of a captivating book.
